There were about 18 of us altogether and decided to go to Lighthouse Tofu across the street from here for dinner. The place was about to close up and as for Korean tradition goes, we gotta have dessert. It's usually at a bakery but this time around, some of us wanted to go to BBB (Bean, Burgundy and Bakery) because they close late, have a lot of seating and has a relaxed environment. Most of us were tired and exhausted from all the things we've done earlier in the week so we needed something to re-energize us. Personally, their service wasn't great and their Pork Belly Buns were disappointing. However, to the others, their experiences were a bit better than mine. I came here on Sunday night with some friends from church and saw that the place had a drum set and microphone. Some of the people in our group were from the praise team so they all were pretty excited on messing with the equipment there. We waited till most of the diners left then we went up and started jamming. I was a bit worried that the owner would ask us to stop or even kick us out because my brother that played on the drum set was really, really jamming but instead the owner and most of the workers there huddled up around and were all bopping their heads, semi-dancing or standing there, watching them play. We played a few jazz songs, Christian songs and just did a freestyle jamming session. Everybody was in a great mood and it felt great to be there. The owners told us that we could come back anytime and use their equipment. Sweet! Their food may not have been so great for me but overall my experience there was great.

So, I went back a third time! They have changed their menu again, and fully embraced the chaos of all of their different options; there is even a section on the menu called "Identity Crisis." 2 friends and I came around 1:30 on a Saturday and were so excited to see that they were still serving breakfast at that time! We each got different omelettes which were served with toast, breakfast potatoes, and some asparagus. Everything was really well cooked and proportioned. That meal plus coffee came in at around $11 per person! I think if they stick with their current menu (it was separated really nicely into a lot of different options) they might have finally figured out how to be organized and eclectic.

The restaurant is having an identity crisis. They have everything and anything with a few restaurant themes under one roof. Coffee, alcohol, Korean fusion, sandwiches, baked goods... All here at an okay quality and high price.

My second time back! Their happy hour is great and kids got their food and desserts fast! Their kimchi cheese fries were delicious!!

This place has a lot of potential, but it's not quite up to that full potential yet. As far as a place to hang out for a few hours and do some reading and writing without distractions or feeling like you are imposing, this place does the trick. Coffee was just average or below and their lunch meat tasted like nothing more than a corner deli.

This place has pretty good food but the buffet isn't that great. Seems like it has a pretty good happy hour.

I really wanted to have a five-star experience here, because this place ticks of quite a number of my "happy eating place" buttons: Wine bar: Check Bakery: Check Korean food: Check Creative cocktails: Check Sushi: Check Live music: Check Coffee shop: Check Gastro-pub fare: Check Should have been an A+ experience all around, and if it weren't for a few missteps, I'm sure it would have been. Our server Dan was a blessing, and at times it felt like he was the only server there that day. We stopped in for lunch, and the hostess who seated us warned us that there might be a ten minute wait before we got served. This wasn't a problem since we were waiting for one more person, but it seemed odd to me. When I looked around, there were only six or so occupied tables. Why the delay? Because they had poor Dan taking care of EVERYONE. There were a number of times when I felt guilty having to call him over to our table because the guy was juggling so many hats. (Bless you Dan, I hope you got great tips that day!) Now I love an extensive menu, don't get me wrong, especially during a boring Tuesday lunchtime. I don't love a menu that comes in more pieces than a jigsaw puzzle. The lunch menu was separate from their (previously) dinner only menu, then the sushi menu was it's own folder, followed by a laminated coffee/dessert menu and a laminated drink menu. It was a bit klunky and made ordering a trifle burdensome. The matcha latte and jasmine cloud were unspeakably good. Like finding $20 in your coat pocket good. Like clean socks fresh out of the dryer good. We just sat there in silence for a while indulging in the clean flavors and frothy joy of it all. Mmmm. I ordered the kimchi bulgogi burger. It took quite some time to arrive, but when it did I was delighted...at first. The bun was toasted perfectly, the lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp, the kimchi aioli was delightful and the bulgogi beat any other bulgogi I've tried on Rt 40 so far. But when I took a bite I realized something was off. There was no kimchi on it at all. Frankly, it was good enough that I could have eaten it as it was, but since the kimchi bulgogi burger is more expensive than the regular, I sent it back. Dan returned sometime later with a freshly made sandwich for me (points to them for not just slapping cold kimchi on the one I'd taken a bite of, which I expected). Sadly, unlike the rest of the sandwich the kimchi left something to be desired. My thought is that it would've been better suited to a kimchi pancake or something along those lines, but not as the star of the dish. Dessert was lovely for the most part, we shared a chocolate mousse and our friend had the opera cake. These weren't, sadly, our first or even second choices, because the majority of the desserts listed on the menu weren't available. As for the ones we got, they were fine, but tasted a bit like they'd been sitting in the glass case a little too long and got dried out. I'm going back again to see if perhaps dinner or late night service is somewhat better, because I see the potential here and I think that this place could really be something very special once they get all their ducks in a row. I'm certainly rooting for them.

Went tonight (May 9) for their "grand opening." I guess the two times I went many months ago was still their soft opening? Or maybe this was the grand opening of their new concept. Anyway, their menu was much bigger than the last time I was there. It's definitely varied and can easily be seen as having an identity crisis like others have said. Korean dishes, pastas, steak and potatoes, crab cakes, and burgers can all be found here. There was a student band playing during the grand opening. Most of the restaurant was filled...first time I've seen that here. The service is slowwwww. There seemed to be only two servers for the entire place. They were both super friendly, at least. Took over 20 mins just to get our drinks (water and iced tea, nothing fancy). Food took even longer to arrive but was delicious. They gave us free smoothie and cake samples at the end. Not a place for a quick bite but an option if you want to sit down and relax. I'll try their bar next time to see what they have in way of adult beverages. Beer list looked basic and liquor shelves appeared minimal, similar to a small hotel bar. However, I don't think they intend this to be a big part of their business anyway. I wouldn't want to come have drinks right next to a table full of high schoolers drinking bubble tea and coffees. But who knows...Starbucks is wanting to serve alcohol, I hear.

While the food is excellent (although inconsistent) the service at this place is just awful. Nearly every time I come here service is slow and orders are rarely completed correctly. The food is never made in a timely manner which is disappointing considering that I know the mixing bowl that I order has completely ready made ingredients that are just put together in a bowl. This place really needs to better train their staff or hire a completely new staff.

Having an identity crisis as a person can be a conflicting issue. But as a food-serving establishment, that's not a bad thing at all. Bean & Burgundy caters to all tastes. There's a coffee/tea/smoothie/cloud section. By the way, this cloud drink is pretty neat. It's a hot drink made with their Bean & Burgundy's own uniquely developed syrups. There's a bakery section with sweets, cakes, and breads. There's a sandwich section with paninis and such. There's a fancy dinner sections that produces gourmet dishes. And there's also a bar section, with soju, sangria, and other wines and hard liquor. Plus there's a huge TV to entertain patrons. While the music that plays may be off-putting and the edibles may be decent at best, the concept is a welcoming one, the decor is inviting, and the space is spacious.

Went for lunch buffet ($12.95) yesterday. It's a Korean restaurant, and the name doesn't fit the food. The buffet items were bland and cold, the service was awful, and the cashier charged double when we asked to split the bill on two credit cards. The lady did not know what "duck sauce" was, did not know names of foods on the buffet, and generally living in the clouds. The soy sauce was up at the bar---I had to go get it. All in all, I got up from the table four times to get food, soy, inquire about our bill, and ask for "duck sauce," which they did not have on hand. A total hassle. I will never go here again.

Stopped here for a snack/dessert. This place seems to try to be "hip," meaning they had mood lighting, a bar with a steel wall behind the bottles, and trendy music playing in the background (I remember hearing Jamiroquai and the Gorillaz). The restaurant was pretty "cool" inside, literally - I was cold and kept feeling cold air blowing on me. The red bean bubble tea was pretty decent - it wasn't too sweet and the tapioca balls were nice and gummy. I split a piece of strawberry cake but unfortunately for $4 it wasn't all that great. It tasted like a store-bought box cake, like angel food cake. It was very generic but did have a strawberry and blackberry on top. I actually enjoyed the $1 peanut butter sweet bun more. It was basically a bun, shaped like a hot dog bun, with peanut butter crème inside and nuts along the outside. Overall, I'd rate it a 3.5 - decent but I don't understand the hype unless you like the atmosphere which is a cross between a sports bar and a night club.

This place has a lot of potential to be a success. Unfortunately the only 2 times I've dined here they failed to open on time. They state their buffet is open 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. Both times I've arrived at 11:30 and was told I had to wait because they weren't ready. Opening their buffet closer to noon. Very unprofessional.

They need to change the name as they do not have a cafe anymore and the bean part of the brand is basically just your plain ol' cup of joe you can get for cheaper two stores down at the Dunkin donuts.

I am normally a fan. My family and I go here once a week for a quick fresh dinner. We have almost always had great service and tasty food. Last week we went for dinner and it left us all disappointed. The servers were all new. Our orders were wrong (my kids got theirs fine but the two adult meals not so much) we ordered the Bimipap mixing bowls which are usually excellent. This time they brought the hot stone bowls with meat (we order tofu I am a vegetarian) and the reorder came out with soggy tofu and it didnt taste good. Overall we have found it a good family place I feel like they are trying too hard to fix things with out giving their customers a chance to get used to them.

Hands down the most bizarre restaurant experience I have ever encountered. We arrived this morning at 9:00, when they are supposed to open. The door was unlocked, but not a single employee was in the restaurant. A couple of minutes later, one of the kitchen staff entered and grunted us towards a table in the back, dropped off two Dinner menus(there were 4 of us), and left. Five minutes later, a second employee showed up and went up to the coffee bar, still ignoring us. At 9:15, we got up and left, since apparently we were not going to be waited on any time soon. No one tried to stop us, or offer an explanation. Do yourself a favor and avoid this joint for the next few months that it remains open.

Just meh. The service was friendly but incredibly inefficient. We were a group of 3 and the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. Yet, the food took about 30+ minutes to come out. Factor that in to the fact that we ordered bibimbap and a wrap (super simple things to make), the wait time for food was just disappointing. We also ordered an appetizer of kimchi cheese fries which came after our entrees? Thanks? Lol. The food was pretty good - I recommend the kimchi cheese fries! The bibimbap was meh to say the least. It was cold and not in the hot stone bowls that I usually like my bibimbap in. My friend who ordered the signature wrap said it was pretty tasty. Pretty good bubble tea as well. We had matcha green tea, taro, and lychee and I think all of us were pretty happy with it. Didn't try any of the bakery offerings but it looks pretty on par with Shilla (selection is smaller though). Overall...hm..I'm not sure if I'd immediately come back. The prices are fair and the food is decent, but I think this place needs to work on some efficiency issues. It's a new place so I'd be willing to try it again once they work out the kinks.

Amazing interior! Very spacious! Great for large parties or coffee and dessert with your gals! Extensive choice of caffeinated drinks, mini desserts and food! Once you order, they'll bring everything out to you. And can I just say coffee definitely tastes better in a mug! Love it!

came here one day with my mom and there were not a lot of desserts and Korean breads! The waitress was kind of confused and I got a panini and my mom got a Korean bibimbap. The panini was alright nothing special and the bibimbap was just bleh. Not worth it for the price. We also had a macaron coffee cake thing and it was a bit dry and lacked flavor. Overall the experience was the best but I would like to go back to give it a second chance since I went around the time the grand opening about after 2 months.

A surprisingly big, swank space that belies its strip-mall location. Decorated high ceilings, an open-kitchen, this could be in NW DC. Just recently opened, we were advised that the menu was still in flux The sandwich and wrap we tried were both decent (sandwich was superior) and made use of multiple savory ingredients and bulgogi (seasoned Korean beef)-- definitely not your parents' generation of dull delis serving identical flavorless sandwiches. There's an elaborate pastry counter, and also some shelves that look like the usual Korean bakery. The coffee bar has a number of "mixed" coffee drinks. The GF tried an "orange creamsicle" (better than it sounds, not too sweet). My espresso was also very decent. They are working on getting a wine/beer license, but as of mid November were not serving yet. They are also open late and plan for even longer hours, extremely welcome here in the 'burbs. Comfortable seating includes booths, comfy chairs at normal tables, some small sofas, a short bar, and bar-style seating along both windows. There's wi-fi apparently. When we were there, a staff member came by with a taste of fresh savory bread they had just made, delicious. Highly recommended. The kind of place that makes me happy to live in Ellicott City.

The atomsphere, food, and prices are all GREAT. What they would really benefit from for thier business is to get FASTER and quality service bc it literally just sucks. I tried giving them a 2nd chance but I would say a def NO GO for now.

Like it but not loving it. Pastries are what I come here for.... Place is my kind hangout. Staff was friendly to me..I can't complain. I do agree the sign and place look like they are having an IDENTIty Crisis !!! That makes this place unusually unique. I just don't think coffee drinkers, wine connoisseur and pastry/bake lover's blend well like smoothies they serve. Yet I salute the idea. * NO Haters please !!!*

This was a horrible experience. The lack of customers on a Saturday night at 6:30 should have told us to move onto another restaurant . Our waiter was clueless, they were out of half of the wines on the wine list, the bar tender had quit two days before so mixed drinks were essentially impossible. When asked what was on draft he said "the beers are written on the wall over there". Our waiter tried to give me half a glass of wine. When I questioned it he said "oh, it was the end of the bottle". The food was fair at best and not worth the aggravation.

They started to turn the place into more of a posh vibe with live music playing on certain days and the seating now has barriers. And weekends it's more of a restaurant with wait to be seating dining and table service. IMO I liked the open cafeteria vibe better, that's what drew me in and offered something different than others... where now it's becoming more like a typical restaurant. The food is a bit pricey but they're catering to a higher end of dining. It has been a couple of months already but it still seems like they're trying to figure out things. No longer the chill and hang out / play a boardgame / bring some work to do kind of atmosphere or at least not on weekends.

The items on the identity crisis are excellent. The ahi tuna salad is also excellent. One time I had an excellent bibimbap, and another time it was horrible with very cold rice. Overall, I think the food is very good, a little pricy for a cafe type atmosphere, but great environment, especially with the new, improved seating. They also make great tea, coffee and a nice selection of other hot drinks. Great for groups and small dinner parties. Good for kids if they have an adventurous palette and don't mind a wait for food.

Ambiance is great, but the drinks are not on point. The coffee was watery and the green tea latte was TOO powdery. It was so thick, and there was no design on the latte. I was pretty disappointed and the green tea latte was WAY overpriced. It was $5.25 -_____-. Not getting their drinks again.

Only been here once, but the shaved ice (bingsoo) was great and green tea boba smoothie? Was good as well. My friend is a regular there and knew the workers, however the workers were very friendly and the service was excellent. I look forward to returning here.

Good space wasted with horrible service. Interior: Dividers are recently put in which adds more privacy and rustic feel of this cafe/restaurant. There are lot going on with coffee bar, kitchen, dining area, alcoholic bar which can cause confusion for the first timers. Surprisingly, they all seem to work together and are congruent. I am slowly getting used to the odd setting during each visit. Drinks: So far tried two of their cloud drinks and they taste the same. Only difference is the toppings they sprinkle on the foam. It was too milky for me but I'm sure if you like that style, it won't be a problem. Service: I asked the waitress if it was okay for me to study here. She seemed bit confused and told me that this is not a food court. Then I ordered a latte which she didn't know if it was on their menu. After taking my order, she suggested that I should sit outer edges of the restaurant if I wanted to study. The place was pretty empty with only 3-4 tables occupied on a Thursday afternoon. I didn't mind sitting by the window, since that's where the outlets were. But I did not like that they would rather have me by the window. After few hours of sitting by the window, it was getting too chilly and I moved to the center of the cafe. Then around 5pm they turned off their light of the dining area, leaving me in a completely unlit area. They could've told me ahead of the time since they knew I was in middle of reading my paper. After sitting about 30min. in the dark, I asked if they were closing, they responded back that they were setting the mood and it's their policy and can't turn the light on. They offered me a candle or to move to outer edges by the window. The dining area looks like they are not opened for business with no light. It doesn't set the mood, it's just dark. Will never come back again if they continue the poor service.

Went here for lunch with my mom today in hopes to find a great new place to eat. She mentioned that last time she came, the food took long to come out so we gave ourselves some time. After we placed our order, hey indicated they would bring us water to our table. After 20 min we still didn't have water so I had to walk to the bar and ask for water. Second, after 45 minutes we realized we still didn't have our food and realized others around us were almost done with their meals. My mom went to ask about our food, well apparently they never put our order in. They apologized and rushed tamale out order. Only to bring us half cooked food. Our chicken was was halfway cooked and I couldn't take more than one bite. It took us two hours to finish our terrible meal and two hours of my life wasted

This place is confused with it's identity. If you cannot perfect one dish, how do you cross over? This menu is all over the place. I was so hopeful but they need to rethink the menu and focus. The service is horrible. It's as if they are scared to talk to you. Maybe I'll try again in a few months.

Slowly improving more and more. We have come here a bunch of times for breakfast and lunch. Management appeared to constantly be changing. Lots of redecorating over and over again -but usually for the better. First time the service was super slow. Had to constantly ask for things and get the waiters attention. This has much improved. Food is good but not amazing. Loooooots of menu options and they are willing to make almost any substitutions modifications or eliminations you want. This alone is with coming back. You can always try something different. They also have done unique pairings I wouldn't make at home but are really tasty. Only con for food was the desserts. One time we did dinner and dessert and had some problems. We ordered some cupcakes and one was completly frozen. I agree with some reviewers that the service still needs work. Sometimes I'll wait longer than I should. Although the place is never packed they always appear short on servers. Overall it is worth the try. Every time we come it gets better and better.

We went this weekend to try the new sushi buffet which is $13 for lunch and includes a drink. My hubby liked the sushi buffet. It seemed fresh because they were putting out new rolls frequently. I got the special wrap which had bulgogi, cheese, zucchini, horseradish, lettuce in a flour wrap. I loved it. I know it's not traditional but it was yummy. You can get the wrap with fries, chips, or side salad. I chose the side salad and it is lettuce, tomatoes, and ginger dressing. The service has seriously stepped up! We had frequent attention to our drink refills etc.

This place is having an identity crisis, constantly changing their menu and at one time, they had classical music playing in this casual setting. The service can use some improvement. Servers don't seem to be familiar with the menu. Their kimchi cheese fries are very good though!

first we ordered fried chicken that was half garlic and half spicy and when our food came out they messed up our order. notified the waitress saying our order was wrong and she did not apologize but instead decided to argue that we did not say we wanted half garlic and half spicy when we clearly said it to her and the other waiter. Secondly the fried chicken comes with a bowl of radish and in the bowl of radish they gave us there was a HUGE bug in it. Once we notified the waitress we didn't even get a single apology AGAIN and they just simply brought out a new bowl of radish. (Which is probably the same radish) Place is disgusting with terrible service as well. We will definitely not be going to this place again.

I love this place, come here all the time. The food is pretty good, a bit overpriced but always tasty! The service is sometimes excellent and sometimes you're waiting 30 minutes to get your bill. I love the atmosphere and the fact that it's open into the AM. I usually like to go here to study and have late dinner/desert.

My wife and I live across the street and wanted to love this place. We like the little local places vs. the chains. We wanted this to be a perfect quick little lunch spot. First, the parking lot was a disaster. Parking here is awful on the weekends for lunch. We did 3 laps before we found someone pulling out and had to race other cars in the lot to the spot. We walked in and the place definitely has an identity crisis. We sat down for lunch and I was shocked with how limited the menu was. For the size of the place and the kitchen they have, I was expecting a little more on the menu. There were probably only 10 items on the lunch menu. They were rather disorganized. We had 3 waiters come to our table. The first came when we sat down and offered to take our drink order, we werent sure so asked for 2 minute to decide. 10 minutes later he never came back and the hostess came to our table and asked if anyone took our drink order yet. We told her the waiter came to us earlier but didnt come back and we were waiting for him to return, she said OK and left. 10 minutes later another waiter came to our table and asked if anyone took our drink order. We told him the first guy came and left, then the hostess came and left so since he was at our table and we spent 20 minutes looking over the 10 item menu, we were ready to order everything. My wife ordered eggs and I ordered a panini. 45 minutes later and no food yet. I cook a lot, so I was ready to get up and walk into the kitchen and make my wife brunch, knowing that I could have her order made in 5 minutes. Our waiter came and told me they just started cooking our meal. I explained we had been there for an hour and asked if they REALLY just started cooking our meal because if they hadnt, I was starving and was walking over to dunkin donuts. 7 minutes later, our food arrived in precisely the amount of time it should have taken to make. It was delicious and the presentation was very nice. This weekend we needed a quick place to lunch and we commented that the food here was great, pricing was similar to what we would pay at Panera, but we both decided that we didnt have an hour and a half for lunch. If you are looking for a good local place with a few friends and you dont mind a very long meal, give this place a try. However, if you are looking for a quick lunch stop, keep looking. Food gets 4 stars, service gets 0, so averages to a 2.

I think they need to change the way they take orders and timing. Sometimes they give me a number for food and sometimes they don't. So far the system just looks really inefficient. Some asian short haired girl doing drinks was really rude when she rolled her eyes and said she called out my tea already when I had been standing there for ten minutes and had been standing there as soon as I ordered food. When I was eating later the lady next to me with kids was complaining to a manager about her smoothie which was made by the same girl. The reuben, all the teas, and hot sandwiches are really good; smoothies and wraps are mediocre. I'm not feeling the fakemeout bibombop though. Sandwiches and wraps come with one pickle and plain utz chips.

I really tried to like this place - in fact, the first time I was here for after-dinners coffee I liked it. But my second visit here for dinner, well, let's say I'd give this place 1.5 stars if I could. The spacious well-decorated interior is probably the highlight of Bean & Burgundy at this point. It's spacious, it has pretty different furniture from all the other places on Rt 40, and makes a great hang out spot! That aside, it seems like only the cafe portion of Bean & Burgundy is going smoothly. The front section is for the cafe area, the middle for the restaurant portion, and the back is a sports and/or wine bar. Sounds good, right? Well, not if the service is lacking. For drinking coffee and buying pastries, it's pretty straight forward. You go to the counter, place your order, pay, go find a table, and wait for them to call your order. Retrieve your order, and enjoy at your table. I have no problem with that, and in fact, I prefer it. The prices are pretty reasonable for fancy coffees, around $3-5. Pretty great so far. For dinner though, that turned into a mess. I got there around 7pm on a Thursday, when B&B was less than half full. I asked "how does this work?" referring to the sandwiches and bimbimbap options they had on the screens. A manager told me I had to be seated first and that "none of that up there is going on right now." So I went to the hostess stand and asked "I'd like a table for four please." What did the hostess do? She led me to the back, handed me ONE utensils set, and then left me standing at the back corner of the restaurant portion. Ok, I was one girl asking for a table of four... but... come on. Isn't it the hostess' job to properly seat me? So I left that corner and found myself a cozier spot in the middle. Technically it was a table for four, but when one of my friends arrived (all a bit late due to traffic), he pointed out that it was a bit small for 4 people. So we moved on our own. Probably inconvenienced the waiter a bit, but I honestly don't think that much because he wasn't doing much serving at all. It took him quite a while to come back with our individual orders, and for one of my friend's water, it took the server over 30 minutes to bring it. Our dinner menu prices were all over the place. 7.49 for a vegetable only bimbimbap. 9.49 for bimbimbap with bulgogi. It came in plastic bowls. Look, I know I'm spoiled by the real thing that comes in a stone bowl because there's so many great Korean places on Rt 40, but I was expecting a little more rice. At least got I lots and lots of vegetables? One of my friends ordered the signature bulgogi wrap, expecting it to be full of juicy, tasty meat. It arrived stuffed with meat... but my friend said all he tasted was the wrap. No seasoning at all on the meat. The other options on the dinner menu were eyepopping, and in a bad way. For a place that can't decide it's a casual cafe or upscale dining place, charging $16 for flatbread is outrageous. Other items include half lemon thyme chicken for $23. Then when we were finally ready for the check, that took quite a while too, because our server had vanished off to some unknown. Well, all that I could have excused since I'm pretty patient. A friend, who used to work as a server, pointed out the lack of professionalism in our server. Our bill was wrong the first time it was presented. An extra charge for an extra non-existent smoothie ($3.50). Alright, that sort of small error happens all the time and I can understand that. The second time the bill was presented, without the extra smoothie, the numbers were STILL wrong! We ordered 4 bimbimbaps, 1 wrap, and 1 smoothie. So... the second bill said it was $.9.99, $30, and $3.50, which somehow added up t $51.58. I checked my math five times on a phone calculator and it said the subtotal should have been $43.49. So I asked for a manager, who re-did the math, and told me something was wrong with their system, where for the 4 bimbimbaps, it wasn't entering the number ordered correctly, and adding on the additional $2 charge for meat at the subtotal. Eventually it came out to around $51.58, and so I paid with 3 credit cards and cash. Then when I brought the receipts back to my friends... we barely left a tip. We got up and went to Shilla for dessert instead. TL;DR? Come here for the coffee/cafe portion. It's got a great interior. Don't come here for meals, the service is slow and confused. ETA: I recently checked on Tryst down in DC, and it seems like that's what Bean & Burgundy wants to be, but hasn't got it down yet...

I came mid afternoon on a Friday and the place was pretty quiet (as it has been the previous times I've been here). The service was quite good but it did seem understaffed since our server was the only one in the dining area and was also stocking beverages in the meantime. I got the bibimbap again which was great! It was well seasoned and vegan (by the looks of it) if you ordered it with tofu. They've moved the construction of it to the kitchen so you can no longer customize it to your wishes but the selection of veggies was good! I also ordered the black milk tea with bubbles which was delicious. I work at a bubble tea place and this was sweeter than I'm used to but not unpleasantly so. The bubbles aren't freshly cooked but they have this amazing chewy texture that I can't get over. It's definitely pricy at 4.75 but the bubbles make it worth it for me. It's overall a lovely place for just casual lunch with friends or a quiet date. PS the kpop mvs/drama clips are spot on

I mentioned shilla bakery to an older couple who live in Ellicott City and they commented that is "old news". There is a new place that opened called Bean & Burgundy Bread. Things that make you go hmm. The place is massive!!! They spared no expense on decor. Part bakery, coffee shop, restaurant and bar. You know how they say you can't be all things to all people.....that may apply here. Coffee was so so, but the pastries were good.

Been a few times for lunch. Vast, multiple menus, with a Korean flair. Customer service suffers with minimally trained, young waiters. Salads were somewhat wilted and not very appealing. Hubby liked the Bibimbap - the first two visits. We kept hoping it would get better with each visit (3 times in the last 6 months), but it actually got worse. We won't be returning!

My wife and I so want to love this place, but we don't. There is a big identity crisis going on with this place. The interior is beautiful, but the menu is all over the place. Is this a coffee house, bakery, deli, or fancy restaurant with wine. The food is good, but the staff seems disorganized. They have been open for months and they still seem to be trying to figure things out. With today's economy and lots of restaurants going out of business, I think this place might not survive. There are plenty of other choices that are better, i.e. Panera Bread or Jason's deli. Something has to change or they will fail.

A creative mix of Korean and American cuisine, as well as a suprisingly stylish and modern decor. It's a little pricey, but you absolutely get the bang for your buck. A gem in Ellicott City.

Sandwiches were mediocre at best, not sure if this because we chose to carry out but I was not satisfied with my meal AND they screwed up the order. I would recommend the coffee but not the food. B&B is in a difficult location to find but if in the area I may just give them another chance, kudos on the fresh quality of the veggies and deli meats though.

Big and spacious, decent coffee and average food. But below are the issues I think they need to address: * music - the music playing in the background is one of the most random playlists I've ever heard in a coffee shop. It will go from show-tunes, to big band, to heavy rock to folk. Very distracting. * decor - It's like they couldn't decide what they wanted to be. It's part coffee shop, part restaurant, part sports bar. * Prices - Over priced! $3 for a large coffee and refills are $1. At Starbucks I can get a Grande coffee for under $2.50 and get free refills. * Minimum $5 credit card charge - Doesn't work for a coffee shop. If I want to buy just a coffee I have to have cash or buy something extra. * Baked goods - Often not fresh, not made in store so sometimes they seem a little stale. * Some days you have to order at the counter, other days they take your order at the table. No menus to hand out, waiter handed me his smart phone, where he had taken pictures of the menu. If they can address some of these issues, I think it could be a lasting business but they need to work on their business model.

This place has undergone a major renovation and it looks great! We were happy to be greeted by the host and sat immediately. It wasn't too crowded but the place is very large so it would take a lot to fill it up. We ordered kimchi fries and fish tacos. They were both amazing! We were happily surprised with how good it was. The only reason for 4 stars- service and preparing food need to speed up. I think a bit more training is needed and a larger staff. Otherwise if you have the time to wait for your order a while it was worth it!

Came for lunch & got the philly bulgolgi sandwich & seafood pancake. Sandwich was pretty flavorful with good amount of meat. The bread was fresh and not overly crispy. Seafood pancake was not bad but nothing special. I would come back to check out some of the other sammies. Desserts & drinks look/sound tasty, will have to check them out too. Cute place. Feels like a place you can come with a group of people to hang out/enjoy desserts. Dinner service is full service as opposed to lunch you order at the front counter.

Yikes, Breakfast was a huge disappointment. My wife and I went on May 4 because the Double T had a line out the door. We were curious since we watched them refurbish the place. We usually split what we order for the variety so she ordered an omelet and I ordered the mixed fruit blintzes which was the most expensive breakfast thing on the menu at $9. When they served the blintzes they were literally an inch square and they served two of them- that was it! They were also cold, just for laughs as well. I thought it was a joke and someone was going to come out with a camera and yell surprise then I wouldn't have had to pay for this at least. The omelet was OK although it tasted burnt to me. Oh yeah service was equally as bad. We had to ask for spoons for the coffee and I had to go to another table for the sugar and cream. I also ordered orange juice. Now you say what can possibly be weird about OJ. They have Mimosas on the menu for $2. Not a bad price but who drinks at 10.00 in the morning really. The OJ tasted like it was watered down and the glass was 3/4 full, obviously the juice they use for the drinks. When we got the bill the juice was $3. The final insult to the meal. On the bright side we liked the open feel of the restaurant and the light jazz music that played in the background. I don't know how this place stays open, maybe the lunch and desserts are the opposite of what we experienced but they will have to make it without us showing up again.

Although I agree with some of the other comments regarding their service process and a bit of an identity crisis, I think they will get the hang of it as they're still new. Overall though, it's the only spot in Ellicott city that has anything like this: a cafe with good coffees and teas and pastries and is open late (midnight) and is a good, relaxing hang out spot to chill with friends.

My wife and I decided to try this place. We saw it being built for nearly a year and were curious about it. Since it finally opened several months ago, we have not had a chance. Well, tonight was our night. Overall, I would say that this restaurant is confused about what it wants to be when it grows up. Atmosphere: The restaurant is beautifully and tastefully decorated in rustic/asian/modern that pretty much works. The loud pop music creates a dance club feel, more than a restaurant. The long bar/sushi bar/coffee bar/dessert bar was a little strange too. The Food: The food on the menu is a fusion of Italian and Korean. Given the name i expected more of a french/vietnamese/korean or something. I should note that I neither saw beans nor burgundy (anything) on the menu. We ordered the Kimchi Cheese Fries as an appetizer, my wife ordered bulgogi bibimbap and I ordered a pork cutlet. The food was very tasty and there were a variety of sides with the bibimbap including pickle, kimchi and something called mountain vegetable that tasted like a smoked green bean. Very tasty. The service: The restaurant only had 3 tables sat besides us when we arrived. Within 3-5 minutes of sitting the waitress arrived to ask about drinks. My wife ordered soda, I asked for a water and would have ordered a beer but the server left before I could finish the sentence. Approximately 10 minutes after arrival, she returned with the drinks and asked if we were ready to order. We said we wanted an appetizer (kimchi cheese fries). Then we sat for approximately 30 minutes before the server returned to take our order. She mentioned that the fries were on their way at that time. 15 minutes later the fries finally arrived. Less than 10 minutes after that the food arrived. We were trying to move the fries out of the way so the entres could be set on the table. My wife, began to try her bibimbap when the server suddenly appeared telling my wife that the proper way to eat the dish is to stir it. The server then grabbed a spoon reached past my wife, pushing her fork out the way and stirred the food vigorously informing us that this is the proper way to eat bibimbap so that the flavors mix. My wife was somewhat mortified to have another adult treat her like a child and show her how to eat. The server was mostly nonexistent for the next hour or so until being flagged down to request boxes and the check. All in all we may give this place another chance in a year or so. As I mentioned, it needs to figure out what it wants to be. It has a lot of promise. The food was good. But, it feels like it is trying to be everything for everybody and some things are not done well. I would like to try the sushi and the bulgogi burger in the future.

Breakfast - was disappointed with the menu options and coffee. The French toast is not your traditional French toast and it is smothered in some banana sauce. Did not like it. The sides seem pricey. Coffee was awful for $3. It's too bad was looking forward to trying this new place but will not be back. Pro - they do have a lot of room. But should of gotten the hint when parking lot was empty in the AM. Maybe dinner would be different. Overall too pricey for what you get.

Have come here several times for dinner and lunch. Food is usually very good. Service is typically a bit slow but bearable. Had family in town this weekend so decided to take them here for brunch Sunday. With a party of 6, service was awful. A wrong item was made, we had to request silverware after food was delivered, our waitress never visited us after food was put down so everyone ran out of water and other drinks. I had to get up and request the waitress come back to our table. After all this, I asked for a refill of regular house coffee and was told it's a $1 charge for a refill of the regular cup ... not sure of any other restaurant in the area that doesn't just automatically keep your coffee cup topped off for free. I'd understand had it been a specialty coffee. Not sure if it was just an off day, but my omelet also had some eggshells in it. after leaving the check, the waitress was nowhere to be found again so I had to get up to pay because everyone was starting to get antsy. All in all a pretty bad experience. They really need to work on their service especially for tables of more than a few people.

This place is a great asset to Ellicott City. The community is fortunate to have such a well run, locally owned small business serving our town. The food is great, the lattes and espressos are phenomenal, the service can't be beat, and the decor is cool and unique. These guys aren't trying to copy anybody else. They're carving out something that is one if a kind and they're doing it well!

Red velvet cupcake: you could smell the butter on the frosting and too sweet. Cake was dry. Strawberry shortcake not a buttery frosting but no strawberry. All artificial flavoring. Carrot cake was good. Nice and moist with decent flavor. Green tea latte, iced coffee, and ginger tea ordered. Meh. Don't order anything I did. Drinks I'd rather have at the dunkin in the same center. Or go to shilla. You will get better flavor and value. This place is well decorated and large with a full bar.

I discovered this place when a friend of mine took me and have been back at least once more. It's very spacious and has plenty of seating for small or big groups. I have only been there later in the evening so as far as food, I've only tried and bought desserts and drinks. Their "cloud" drinks are so good! I've tried jasmine nectar and mellow yunnan and I highly recommend them both. Last but not least, the people who work there are very friendly. I would also like to add a big shout out to Sam! He was super helpful the other night. I will definitely be coming back to visit this place in the near future.

Had a pretty bad experience here, unfortunately. Came in for lunch at 12:30 on a Sunday and left at 3 - not by choice! Started off with a very awkward incident in which a waiter tipped an entire mimosa off his tray and onto me and my three year old...wait faux pas número UNO. At least it wasn't hot coffee. We moved to a new table and then waited quite a while to place an order. The waiter finally came over and we ordered - but after about 40 minutes he came back and said the order had been lost. I was still soaked with mimosa at this point and very hungry. He should have comped us at least a meal, or brought a second round of drinks to appease us but he didn't. Took another 25 minutes or so to get the meals. They were fine. Not great - Cuban sandwich and the pork sandwich. He ended up taking the spilled drink off the bill. We got a cake to take home and try. It was sweet potato and it was good. Overall, I was not impressed, but it might have been mostly due to our awkward waited and my wet jeans.

Saw the story in the local magazine about this coffee to dessert place that recently opened near us. I like local establishments so we were eager to try them for breakfast. After reading some of the reviews, we were concerned but the moment we walked in, the worries went away. The place is bright and airy, a good mix of modern and industrial. It was early so not many people were here. The hostess who greeted us was very charming and explained that during the week it was self-service but full service on the weekends. The music was a great mix, acoustical with some light jazz. The food was great! My cappuccino was done to perfection and my friend's cafe mocha had real dark chocolate. Because we weren't too hungry, we shared their signature bulgogi burrito. Yum! It was filling yet light. Looks like they'll being seeing more of us. We've decided to come back and work our way through their menu to see if it's this good for dinner and dessert.

Let me start by saying that I only went in for deserts and tea. I will be taking a second trip for the dine in portion of the program. Anyway I purchased the Macaroons, a chocolate chip cookie, and a slice of the fresh cream strawberry cake. ALL were delicious. Most desert shops make a habit of EVERYTHING being overly sweetened hiding the flavors of all of the ingredients. Not BBB. Very well done. Enough sweetness to know it was a chocolate chip cookie and enough to know it was Fresh Cream strawberry cake because you tasted the cream, the soft slightly moist and spongy cake, and the cloud like whipped icing. It was almost perfect. The strawberry interior was a little jam like. Not enough real strawberries. Anyway I topped my visit off with the Jasmine Cloud. Steamed milk with a Jasmine tea syrup and toped with toasted black sesame seeds. I'm driving and I think I just got my car pregnant. Lol. The creaminess of the steamed milk, the lightly sweetened kiss of the soft Jasmine syrup, and the contrasting toasted bitterness of the sesame seeds, made for one of the best hot beverages I've ever had. BBB is definitely worth a visit!!

This is my third time I've been here. First time I just came to have some coffee. Immediately I loved the ambiance. I thought this was going to be my new favorite Cafe. Had a blast with the staff. The hostess and the guy behind the bar were very personable. The coffee tea and service is what made me want to come back for more. Second time I came with my girlfriend. Again service was phenomenal. Every one of the staff seemed very kind And we decided to eat this time. We both had paninis. This is where it went downhill. Food took long to come out and it looked like something I could make and I'm the farthest thing from a chef. Quote was okay but I left with mixed feelings. Third time I came with friends. Immediately the hostess made friendly conversation and even remembered me. I loved that. However we all got omelets and again food took forever. Portions were extremely small for the price. All servers were superb but food presentation and wait time were not. We had coffee and then left. Coffee tasted great. I recommend anything off their cloud list. All in all. I would come back. But definitely not for the food. It's a good hangout place but not for the food.

Wow, so disappointed. This place has a serious identity crisis. I have no idea what's going on inside or what the restaurant is. Is it a Panera Bread wannabe, a bakery, bubble yea Asian joint, a sushi joint, a fancy sit down, a bar, or a Jason's deli type place? Been twice now and still don't know. It would be cool if it was different enough and had its own identity but it's just not clear. The menu is odd and seems disjointed. The service is incredibly slow. It's not kid friendly at all. Been at lunch and dinner and both have been terrible. Won't be coming back unless they make tons of improvements. So I spoke to the manager who offered a several excuses and a free desert for our next visit. Seems like poor management or business acumen as I told her it was unlikely we would be returning. And when word of mouth is some of the best advertising, she can expect many others to not try this place as I won't be recommending it.

I'm clearly not hip enough to appreciate B&BB. The prices are high, the food is fine but not great, the coffee is fine but not great. If the food or coffee justified the prices, I'd be writing a different review. But it just doesn't. I will give them a thumbs up on the remodel and decor- it's a very cool looking place. I just don't want to pay for that with overpriced menu items.

Service is slow. My sandwich was ok... Cheese chicken and bacon, not too difficult. They forgot a mean and screwed up an appetizer. I feel bad for whoever invested their money into this place but like blockbuster, I can't see this lasting.

The food is nice and the atmosphere is pleasant and cafe like although it provides a variety of services from those provided at restaurants and bakeries. What stood out to me was the customer service. The workers are friendly and ready to meet and exceed the needs of the customer. I did not know the difference between the types of bubble tea and one worker was more than happy to make it according to a description I provided of the type of bubble tea I liked. Not only that the next time I came in, I was still unsure of the type of bubble tea I ordered last time and the worker went out of his way to find the employee who made my bubble tea previously to make sure my order was perfect! It was delicious! Also, while we were there, the employees are quick to respond to customers needs although not directly asked. I asked a hostess for a menu to order lunch since the breakfast menu was still showing on the T.Vs and she was quick to change the image and provide menus.

I'm a fan. Stopped in here with a few friends to grab a drink, ended up staying all night. The beer selection was plentiful as was the wine selection. The variety of wines available for the $2 glass (all night) happy hour was excellent. Plenty of different choices so you didn't get narrowed into drinking the same wine all night. We had 2 different Malbecs and a Cab. I recommend asking for Katie she was attentive and friendly and my group of 3 never wanted for anything. The music selection was intimate and upbeat and a notch below mainstream so you recognized a few songs, but the ones you didn't know you wanted to, meanwhile quiet enough to ignore if you so choose. Overall the place is perfect for a romantic dinner where you want to actually talk to your date. I recommend the shrimp appetizer. I'll be visiting again.

I don't know if I can really rate this place because we did not get a chance to actually eat there. We went there on a Friday night around 9pm. It was pretty empty which we found very surprising. There were about 4-5 tables eating. We walk to the front and the hostess seats us right away. We sit down, look at the menu, and pick a couple things we want to get. 5 minutes goes by. I'm wondering why no one has come to even ask us what drinks we want. We see the waitress walk by and wondered why she didn't stop by our table. We put our menus down thinking maybe she thought we werent ready. A couple walks in and gets seated (10 minutes after we came in). The server walks over and asks them for their drink order (they were about 2 tables from us). Getting pretty impatient, I ask the waitress if she could take our drink order. She says she'll be right with us. Meanwhile, while the waitress goes to the kitchen (assuming to get that couple's drinks), this man comes in by himself and sits between us and the other couple. After the waitress brings out their drinks, she stops by the man's table to greet him and take his drink order. I was pretty upset at that point. TWO TABLES were served that came in much later than we did. I figured, I'll give it one more chance in hopes that she would stop by our table after stopping by the man's table. Nope, she takes his order and heads back to the kitchen. That's when I had enough and just walked out the door. I really wanted to try out the place, because we stopped by a couple weeks before that just to check out the place and get some coffee/bread (we were on our way home from dinner). Looking at the menu, there were a lot of things that looked appetizing. However, the prices were pretty unreasonable, especially after reading the reviews on yelp about how small the portions are. I will not be going there again, no matter how good the menu looks. I should've known better. At the end of the day it's a korean restaurant and their service is known to be slow.

The cafe and bakery are cool. Bibimbap is wayyyy overpriced and they give too small a portion if rice. When I asked for more rice because it got too salty, they seemed kind of annoyed. There weren't any side dishes or soup given with the bibimbap which is pretty much a staple for Korean food. The buy one get one free beer was awesome though. I just think that place has a major identity crisis....cafe, bakery, bar, restaurant...?

I came here looking for brunch but they were not serving them at 1pm on Saturday. I ordered bibimpap instead. They were accommodating that they change the ham and cheese to ham and egg for lactose intolerant. Coffee was sour and bitter. The manager talked to us and heard our suggestions and critiques. Offered to let us taste their espresso but we declined, too much caffeine for the day. The interior is super fab and very spacious. Must work on their wifi accommodation though. Its a place worth going back to.

I gave it an extra star for the interior. Eight of us stopped by for dinner recently. Seven ordered the bibimpap bowl. It took them more than thirty minutes to make them, all of them had wrong ingredients from what we ordered. I had a feeling this was happening as they have an open kitchen and I could see the preparer constantly shuffling the bowls and tickets around with a look of frustration. Since it took so long they were cold. We didn't sent them back as we did not want to wait thirty minutes again. I ordered a large coffee as they displayed some nice mugs at the counter. I was served it by our waiter in a carry out cup. Speaking of the waiter, I guess at night they attempt to be a real sit down restaurant with table service. Waiter had no clue. We asked for bread. Ten minutes later and after I reminded him about the bread he returned and told us they don't serve bread. Isn't "bread" a part of their name? I will say that the coffee was good and so was the dessert I had. The long wait, poor service and each bibimpap being delivered with incorrect ingredients put this establishment on my " Do not return" list.

LUNCH BUFFET Review Only: The food was decent. Nothing special. But this is only reviewing the lunch buffet. The spread is very small for a "buffet". But comprehensive. The lunch buffet only featured asian dishes, including: Miso soups, salads with various asian dressings, nigiri sushi pieces, sushi roll pieces, tempura, dumplings/gyoza, Korean beef dishes, Korean pork dishes, tofu with Korean dressing, steamed clams, Japchae (Korean vermicelli), fried and white rice, fruit salad, etc. Very simple food in a mix of Japanese/Korean styles. I went to town as much as I could on the nigiri sushi. I pretty much left off a lot of the rice in the nigiri and just ate the fresh fish (I definitely did not want to fill up on cheap sushi rice!). I'm sure the business owners strongly frown on this practice.... but I refuse to be cheated out on sushi AYCE if it's just on cheap sushi rice I can make at home, or order by the pint for $2. I tried almost everything, even if it was just a tiny little bite. Nothing was bad. Several things were cold (consequence of buffet tables). Several dishes were bland and needed much more seasoning. Nothing was "great". Decent is the best word to describe the lunch buffet. Honestly though, I will definitely come again. The service was quick and friendly. The venue is huge and open and not too noisy. There are a ton of TVs and a full bar. I might be interested in dinner or just happy hour fare with an Orioles or Ravens game on the screens. They feature plenty of Korean-style (ie. absolutely stunning in presentation and visually super cute and "Asian") desserts that are placed in chilled dessert displays for everyone to see. I will try them next time! The lunch, although not superb, were good and quick and simple. Keep up the good work.

So, this location used to be a Blockbuster and they have done some massive/impressive work in this place to overhaul the joint. The problem is that this place has: a bar, a dessert showcase, picnic table layout, buffet tables for a sushi lunch buffet, a small stage with a band setup, booths, tables, and a coffee bar; overwhelmingly confusing in what this place is trying to be. Not really sure what this place's deal is, but it tries to wear many different hats at the same time and dessert is definitely not it. We only wanted to have dessert since, we had had dinner across the street at Lighthouse Tofu and the service was not very forthcoming. The dessert case housed tired-looking pastries (granted, we came in around 9pm on a weekday). We never got to see the menu, but we ordered a mango bingsoo. The mango pieces were under ripe severely; extremely tart and crisp. We never received glasses of water and the waitress just let out a huge groan when we asked to sit outside (while there were other customers sitting outside, there were several tables available). Although they showcase that they do coffee, teas, and dessert, I would opt for another place. The service and the dessert part of this business definitely fits the "Meh. I've experienced better" attitude.

Qe.went w a Korean friend. She said the pancake and the 'mondu' were not good. The gugsu soup was good. Bibimbop burger was good and the bugolgi fries were good too. Service could have been improved. I spent half the night without water in my glass :( and the waitress rarely came to check on us if not delivering food. Bar doesn't have any energy drinks and music is a bit too loud (though good). We.came on Friday night and it was pretty empty. Decor is nice and it could have a Nice, chill upscale vibe. The place serves sushi buffet lunch (w other hot items). The hot food looks good too. They have a coffee bar (house only) as well as a small display case with (really nice looking) European style pastries. They have PLENTY of seating as well. They have a small stage with drumset for (occasional) live shows.

We were sitting there for 20 minutes. Did not receive silverware nor did we get our orders taken. Two people came 10 minutes before us and ordered a salad and a sushi roll. The salad came out first before we even got the rest of the orders taken. When the salad came out, we still did not receive silverware. Hmm I guess they expect us to eat with our hands? Ordered wine... Took 15 mins to get the wine. We just need the bottle and four glasses please. Why is it taking so long? In the end, we had to go up to the waiter who was standing there wiping the wine glasses and give him our order, we got our own silverware and we also got our own plates. Bean and Burgundy, are you a self serve restaurant? If so, we were not aware. On top of that there are currently three waitresses working and there are only four tables. Why is everything taking so long! Please, don't mess with hungry people. *EDIT* it's been over 45 minutes. Where is our food!!!!! Are they out fishing for the fish?? Are they waiting for the lettuce to grow? Are they making the noodles themselves? *EDIT #2*: we finally got our sushi roll an hour later. This was unacceptable. To top it all off, our server gave us a side of MAJOR ATTITUDE. I don't know where you grew up and where you learned how to be a waiter, kid but you do not talk to your customers like that. Not only did he give us attitude but he walked away from our table while a friend of mine was in mid sentence about his service. So we complained to the manager about this kid and she brought him over to our table to apologize and of course his apology was heartless and mixed in with MORE attitude. Whatever, we left him no tip and we let it slide. But that's not the end, he then texts my friend that his apology was fake and he was not sorry at all. Um... Who does this kid think he is? He is deliberately trying to start some kind of drama with us. THIS KID NEEDS TO GO. Hey PAUL. I hope you've read this and you learn to fix your sh*t attitude. You will not survive in the real world if you continue to treat customers/HUMAN BEINGS the way that you do. GROW UP KID.

Not too fond of the recent renovations, I liked the set up from a few months ago with the cafe and pastries, but I understand why they are making those changes.. there's already 2-3 new cafe/bakeries that opened up just nearby. The parking lot is teeny there, but people don't seem to have too much of an issue with that. I'm still a fan of this restaurant because there are so many great options and I've been stopping by to grab lunch/dinner since 1.5 years ago.. I feel like once B&B compromises on a solid theme and focus on building upon that foundation, I may give out my first 5 stars. This is one of the nicer restaurants I've seen in the area.

I came here late at night to get some snacks and desserts. We got here around 1145 on a Sunday. Their hours listed that they closed at 2 but when we got there, they mentioned that their kitchen was closing soon (midnight) so me and my friends felt rushed trying to order our snacks. We ordered bulgogi tacos and a blazing pork tacos for snacks. The bulgogi taco was very delicious and the pork rib taco was also tasty but had a very long after burn from the sauce. We ordered a milk snow ice with vanilla ice cream and red bean. I can say that this is one of the better snow ices in the Ellicott City area. The snow ice is much creamier than I've itself. They also put a little bit of condensed milk on top that made it even yummier. This place calls their snow ice snow cotton. It's a great name for their product. It really has a catchy name that made me curious. They have an assortment of pastries but not as extensive as Shila near by. I was pretty disappointed because it was only a handful of pastries in the refrigerated display cooler. The interior like many have stated is great. However like many others have reviewed they are a bit lacking a theme. But personally I liked the interior of looked rustic to me. The cafe is pretty new so the inside is clean and fresh. The environment at night is a bit more cozy than in the mornings. The lighting is dim. They have rows of TV which confused me because it's not a sports bar. Good Korean pop music plays in the background. The wait staff who served us seemed to be new so it was understandable they did not know some of the answers to my questions. Overall, they were friendly.

Main reason I've giving this a 3.5 for now, is that we were able to hang around for a few hours using wifi and were mostly uninterrupted. It's a good place for reading, chilling, and relaxing in a mostly quiet atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon. For someone who actually kind of wants to dine...service is variable. I saw a tall white guy being very busy and running around serving, but the asian woman serving us was very hands-off. I was a bit disappointed with my drink order: London Fog Cloud with bubbles. It came LUKEWARM in a standard mug, half of it being froth. Bubbles were cold and it was way too sweet with no distinct flavor. That means I paid $4.75 for half a mug of drink. We tried a slice of tiramisu and it was a TINY piece for a bit over $5. Even cakes at Shilla Bakery are cheaper. Was it worth the money and the calories? Hum...well the marscapone cheese (was it really marscapone??) on top was kind of hard (maybe baked??) and the cake layers themselves didn't taste particularly memorable. I've had way better in terms of imitation tiramisus. I think they are trying though--and deserve maybe another chance. I'm a bit apprehensive at this point due to the quantity-quality-price balance being a bit...skewed. The pictures look good though, so I might try to come again for the food. Until then, I'd say they've been trying to improve, it's a great place to crash for a few hours on your laptop, use the free wifi, and pay your $5 entrance fee in exchange for a mediocre, overly sweet drink. That's what you get at Starbucks, and that's what you'll get here ;)

Don't let the dark boring exterior of this place fool you because when you step into this restaurant it looks super cute and classy. There is a lot going on in this place. They have a kitchen for delicious food, a cafe for coffee and other drinks, a bar for alcoholic drinks, and a bakery for desserts. When I rate this place, I feel like I have to give different ratings for different aspects of my experience here: Food and dessert- 4/5: I tried their bulgogi taco and pork taco. Both were really good. I especially liked the bulgogi taco. Bulgogi is a Korean beef marinated in a sweet soy sauce base. It had lettuce, bulgogi, pickled onions (this was so good it was pickled and slightly sweet), and the taco was drizzled with a spicy chipolte mayo sauce. The pork tacos were good, but way to spicy for me. The pork tacos had pork that was drizzled with a hot pepper sauce. There were two tacos per order and cost $9.00. They also have shave snow ice! I got the milk snow ice. It had a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a scoop of sweet red bean paste. It was creamy and delicious. You have to try this. Service: 2/5 The service was not very good. When we got seated he never brought us water or utensils. After our food came out he just left and we had to wave him down to ask for our water and other necessities to enjoy our food. Ambiance: 5/5 This place had an adorable layout and was decorated nicely. They had seating all throughout the place and all the sections felt secluded and homey. You got a lot of privacy and lights were dimly lit. This place would be great to come in big groups or for a date night with your boo! So overall, I would give this place 4 stars.

We didn't have the best service here, we went on a Sunday early afternoon, the place was pretty empty. Everything started out great but once we ordered it went down hill. My food came out about 20 or so minutes before my friends did, I tried to wait for his to come out but my food was getting cold. We ended up sharing my food. The food over all wasn't spicy or as flavorful as other Korean dishes I've had before. The servers kept walking by but wouldn't stop to see if we needed anything. We had to ask for refills of water. The atmosphere was cool and laid back, would probably be a decent place to hang out if you were just drinking, but not for lunch or dinner.

Ehhh? Pluses -Open late on weekends (2 AM) -Clouds are very flavorful. -Tacos are pretty good. Minuses - -Bubble tea is served in a mason jar and I swear it's less than 16 fl oz. You're paying $5 for less than you would normally get for a small size at a bubble tea shop. The tapioca was not cooked thoroughly and had a tough interior texture. -There are some communication issues. We ordered wings and asked for half soy and half blazing. They gave us half plain and half blazing, and it took sometime for them to understand what the issue. If you want a late night place in the burbs of howard county that isn't a bar, then it's a viable option. I wouldnt go out of my way for it.

They renovated this past week over Labor Day weekend.... I think that's their 3rd? 4th? renovation since they first opened. More seating for bigger groups, and they made the dividers between tables higher so you can't see the people sitting next to you for some areas of the restaurant. It looks more sit-down friendly now, with even less seats for the coffee drinkers and those who want to linger and loiter over dessert... Although I still think this place is like a 3.5 stars, I will up this current review to 4-stars, since I know they're really trying to hire good people and work on the details better... I hope they can hire more people; it's still looking pretty dead with too many customers for the number of workers (ie. They use the same ONE person to make coffee drinks for walk-ins AND the people who order sitting down... so if 5 people all order coffee around the same time... you are waiting a LONG time...)

review is based on drinks and dessert. omg this place has improved a lot from the two times i've been there! as soon as you enter there is a sign that asks you to wait to be seated. they seat you and then serve you. coffee stops serving at 11pm on a friday night (and they close at 12 not 2 and will start closing at 2 starting in feb not dec). ***they should reprint the signs that say they will be closing at 2am starting dec 1. anyways. service by andrew was amazing! he was super friendly and welcoming! he was also very helpful! if you go, you should definitely ask for him! :) i was very disappointed by the drinks and dessert. - chai tea latte it was not smooth. i felt like i was shoving down spices down my throat. the spices were also very big :( i was not pleased with my drink. - black milk tea bubble tea served in a mason jar with the handle it did NOT taste like black tea with milk and sweetener. i don't even know what it tasted like. it was not good! the bubbles were good but the drink was bad! do not get it if you want black milk tea - mango green tea bubble tea served in a mason jar with the handle it was very sweet and would have been better with a little more green tea. - chocolate souffle did not taste like chocolate.. the middle (inside) tasted like chocolate but the outside did not. it also smelled a little like my dog's food D: it was slightly warm and did not come in a ramekin. it was more like a cupcake or muffin and not a souffle. it is NOT a souffle. - some strawberry dessert if you want chewy and dry strawberries then get this dessert! i did not like this. there was also mold in one of the strawberries. if my friend did not see it someone may have ate it by accident so be careful. they did apologize and offer to refund us but we declined because they did not know and we already paid and was more work to go through all that and andrew was just amazing! - chocolate purse dessert thin chocolate made into a purse shape with chocolate mousse inside but the chocolate mousse did not taste like chocolate mousse. it did not taste like chocolate at all. - lemon cream cake best dessert we tried BUT i think the lemon flavor should have been stronger. it was more of a light lemon cream flavor cake. the texture of this dessert was good but i think it should have more of a lemon flavor in the cream. i would not get dessert or chai tea latte here. avoid it! the teas are a safe choice because it is hot water and rishi tea. i do want to go and try the food. i hope that i will not be disappointed the next time i go. after 11 no coffee and i think bubble teas are placed in to-go cups after 11 and not the cute mason jars.

DO NOT EAT HERE Not only is it disorganized like everyone else says I became very sick just a hour after eating here I ordered the ddukboki with kimmari and an order of Katsu. I'm not sure which was the one that did me in but I will never return here. Something is not right in their cleanliness and food prep. Also for Sunday night they had their chalkboard outside advertising their happy hour which apparently didn't even apply. The first waitress I had told me the special was ten dollars then on the bill I was charged more by the second waitress and told the happy hour was only Monday to Friday. Misleading and false advertising.

I ordered a sandwich to go. It is kimchee and bulgogi burger and I like it. It is flavorful and balanced. I just hope the bun is warmed or toasted as it is a cold winter night. But I am sure it is fine for other seasons. The wait is somewhat long though.

Enjoyable and perplexing place. There's a reason a section of their menu is called "Identity Crisis" - they can't seem to make up their mind - is it a French-style café (coffee and pastries)? A wine bar? A Korean restaurant (indeed, half of the dozen TVs were showing Korean soaps and game shows)? This place has all of that, and I will recommend Bean & Burgundy because you're guaranteed to find something that suits your taste. I loved the pork belly sandwich - big chunks of well-seasoned pork belly, lots of kimchi, healthy helpings of avocado; it's all that and a side of chips! Hard to beat at $11. My friends enjoyed some coffee and tea. My one friend got the Bibimbap - the egg thrown into this mix of rice, veggies, and meat makes it look like great drunk food. Our waiter was rarely seen during the meal, which I know many people like; I prefer to be checked on more often if only for drinks. Thanks to a large variety of options, I'll probably be back and suggest this as a place that will please most. Cheers!

Unlike other reviewers I actually enjoyed this place. We came here since it was the only thing open late that would satisfy our sweet tooth. The atmosphere is nice, it's big, new and very clean. I can see why some said that they have an "identity crisis" because of the decor but they also serve Korean food, desserts and play electronic dance music. Absolutely none if this bothered me and I didn't think twice about it. We came here strictly for dessert and got the fraiser, Neapolitan (definitely my favorite) and tiramisu with teas and lattes. Everything was good and I can't think of a single complaint. I will absolutely be back to try and food as they seem to have an interesting menu with times like bulgogi and kimchi panini.

Just went to B&B for the second time. Had a really good experience. Ambiance is great, food is tasty, and the happy hour specials are a great deal. $2.50 for any draft beer. Really good quality sushi as well. I would recommend the bulgoki hot stone.

Bean & Burgundy is new-ish but I didn't go in until my brother said the magic words: "They have bubble tea." My first visit, I just went in, sipped happily on a bubble tea, and walked out. BBB (Bean & Burgundy Bread) serves as MANY very DIFFERENT things like: - Coffeeshop - Cafe - Asian fusion restaurant - Bar You can come in for a bubble tea or a latte, have bibimbap or bulgogi tacos, cake, and a glass of red wine. All of these things. I like this place, though. It pulls all of the above off without seeming confused. My only gripes are that my cakes were a bit dry (SADNESS) and I am not a fan of the "cloud" beverages. I got a London fog one hoping it would be an actual London fog when in fact it was just steamed milk with a bit of flavoring. I don't like milk, really, so this was a bit of a bust. HOWEVER it was served with Fruity Pebbles on top and that almost made everything okay. *Note: It is self-service until 5:30, aka no waiters until dinner.

I have only been here once and only had the lunch buffet. First of all service was really slow and they were not busy! The "hot" buffet items were Luke warm at best! The sushi and food were just OK, nothing to write home about! I'd probably not go back again unless it's to just drink at the bar, the inside of this place looks really nice.

A lot of money went in to putting this place together. I really like the atmosphere potential. It could be so much more if people actually showed up. 7:00 P.M. and its dead. They are open til 2 and we were out by 9 so maybe the place fills up late. Although, the cafe had a sign that said closed. It's possible, if they kept that open, they could be known for a late night spot for coffee and dessert. I think they do a good job mixing the Asian with the American . The food was very good. Loved the flat breads. The biggest issue is the service. In this town people need to be greeted at the door and the staff need to be knowledgeable and friendly . Also, if you have something on the menu, you can't be out of it on a Saturday night. ex. calamari. I'm sure that item is purchased frozen. Why are you out of it? They lost a star due to service. If it wasn't for the huge bowl of sashimi, it would have been two stars. If people don't start going I can't see this place surviving. Someone has a big note to pay. It's scary that you could spend a million on a restaurant and no one shows up.

Stopped by for an early dinner not really knowing what to expect. The hostess sat us in the back and it was interesting that there was a coffee bar, a bar with alcohol, a big screen TV and a stage for a band?! A lot going on here! And loads of seating. The menu was busy too. Traditional American foods, Korean foods and did I see tacos on there?! Not sure what to think of it. My grilled cheese was very good though and my husband liked his panini. I would try it again for breakfast, but otherwise nothing was really urging me to go back. I get overwhelmed ordering from places that don't have a specialty as I don't know what to order and the menu gave me no direction! Unfortunately the service was not great. With only a few tables filled, our waitress still pretty much ignored us. I know we only ordered sandwiches and sodas, but we deserve service too and we tip really well! She was more interested in the table ordering alcohol next to us. In fact, once we received our food, she passed by us 3 times without ever checking in to see how anything came out. We had to flag her down to get the check. Disappointing!

The decor and ambience make me want to return even though I wasn't a fan of the watered down drinks or the slow service. The cafe interior is beautiful complete with a bar, wooden benches and booths, comfy cushions and flattering lighting. The bathrooms are also clean as well. Service is very friendly and polite although slow- I don't know if that's the fault of the baristas or the waiters, but I do know that it took around 20-25 minutes to get my group's 4 cups of drip coffees, 2 lattes, 1 chai tea latte, and 1 bubble tea. I had the chai tea latte and while it came in a nice, deep cup complete with pretty foam/cinnamon decorations floating on the top, the chai flavor wasn't really there. The bubble tea looked good and came in a mason jar though the tapioca were all kind of stuck together. I didn't have the two pieces of cake ordered (I'm gluten free), but my friends finished those within 5 minutes so I'm guessing they were very good. If I lived closer, I think I would frequent here to study or meet with friends. Really do love the atmosphere.

I'm torn. Everything I've had to eat/drink was great, but this place needs to work out a lot of kinks, especially in execution and customer service. Things that need work: - They have about 5 separate menus. It would do them and all of us a favor to compile them into one. I came specifically for drinks, and when seated, the waitress gave me every menu except the drinks menu. - Hosts/hostesses, please don't give us a sushi menu, only for the waitress to tell us, "sorry, our sushi chef isn't in yet." The staff could definitely use some coordination. - Service is dreadful, especially when you're in a booth. They hand you a menu, and you wait in agony for someone to come back. And you literally have to wave pretty frantically to get someone's attention after your order's been placed. I really like the menu here. It's a bit all over the place, but I haven't been disappointed with anything I've ordered, especially their drinks (try a Cloud, they're delicious). I'm chalking it up to the fact that they appear to be understaffed at the moment, but hopefully this place gets things together.

The identity crisis that other reviewers mentioned is unfortunately true. It's not that the place is an eyesore. It's clean, shiny, new-looking. But some of the design just doesn't work. The furniture is mismatched with modern and rustic style tables right next to each other. The restaurant layout with the different "stations" gives off a cafeteria vibe. Anyway, when I came here I ordered the red bean bingsoo. At $9, it was the most expensive bingsoo I've ever had. I don't know if it was worth that much money (or if any bingsoo is worth that much unless it feeds a lot of people?), but it was really good so I didn't feel too bad for splurging. The shaved ice was actually SHAVED. If anyone reading this has been to Sno Dream at Montgomery Mall, you'll know what kind of consistency I'm talking about. Shilla and Breeze serve theirs with finely crushed ice, but this kind of shaved ice is so much better. The milk actually gets soaked into the ice and makes for a much creamier mixture. The red bean part consisted of two balls of red bean paste on the side of the ice. They were delicious, but sadly, there was no ice cream or any other toppings for that matter in this bingsoo. I don't feel particularly compelled to make a trip out to EC just to eat here (even though the guy working there made a great pitch for the strawberry bingsoo!), but I would definitely come back if I was ever in the area.

I'm just not sure about this place. I think they're trying to do far too many things at once and therefore service and quality suffer, especially for the prices you're paying. I have yet to have an experience where something wasn't amiss. The past couple months have been touted as their "Grand Opening" but in actuality they've been operating for at least 6 months prior to that. With that amount of time under their belts, I'm not sure why there are still so many hiccups. On day 2 of their "grand opening", they were out of main ingredients for two of their Cloud drinks. This would have been fine if it was stated somewhere, or conveyed by the barista as she waited for my order, but instead I had to learn by ordering down the list and being told they didn't have what was needed to make them. When I finally found one I could order - the London Fog - she handed over the drink and told me she made it extra sweet for me. I was never asked if I would have liked it that way but had already wasted far too long trying to find a drink she could make that I didn't have time for her to redo it. (The drink, by the way, would have been delicious despite the cloying sweetness that grew sip after sip.) My next visit found me with a bag of stale mini palmiers, Womp womp. (Stick with Bon Appetite Bakery just down the road - fresh, and less expensive.) This last go around, I ordered a Chocolate Scone to go with me tea and ended up receiving a heated up chocolate croissant. When I told the employee of the error, she said she had already charged me for the croissant and didn't know how to give me a refund, so would it just be ok to keep what I have. *sigh* Fine. Next time I'm out and about the general area, I'll just keep what I have (aka my money) and take it elsewhere.

This was a fun place to try out for the first time. Obviously it is not the best restaurant in the world, but it is a place I would love to visit weekly. McKenna, our Hostess/Server did a wonderful job at making us feel welcome and explaining the way things work here. Also, she was extremely pleasant and one of the best servers I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. First, we ordered 2 Madagascar Vanilla Clouds. Talk about deliciousness. They were wonderful. My date got the Western Omelette and I got the Pancake Platter. Both were delicious and possibly will become regular orders. I would definitely recommend Bean and Burgundy to friends, family, and enemies.

This is for lunch buffet. Do you go there expecting the usual Japanese/Chinese buffet spread. It is more compact. However, I think there are enough options of Sushi, salad and Korean food. They replenish the sushi supplies frequently. And the hot dishes are descent. They did not offer dessert (except Fruit) so maybe add that too. Overall, not bad and will come again.

I've been a couple of times but never got to actually posting a review so here it is. They have 10% discount if you present your UMBC ID so that's cool. They sell korean fusion food but I'm not really a fan of it. Sandwiches are safe choices but don't try the sushi- not savory nor fresh. It feels like they're trying to be a little bit of everything and the cost is a bit high. Not my best pick.
